New Beginnings in the Land of Israel

A Torah Thought for Parashat Lech Lecha
By Shmuel Sackett

The Netivot Shalom points out something very interesting:

In last week's parsha when Noach is told to leave the ark it says "TZEY min ha'tevah" – LEAVE the ark.

In this week's parsha when Avraham is told to leave his birthplace it says "LECH LECHA" – LEAVE your birthplace.

Q: Why "TZEY" by Noach and "LECH" by Avraham – when they were both told to LEAVE???
A: Because at the end of the flood, Noach's job was over so he was simply told "TZEY" – leave.
But Avraham was not ENDING his mission; he was STARTING IT!!!}

Therefore he was told "LECH" which means a lot more than leave. It means "GO" – go on your mission, go to Israel and build your life!!!
Reach your goal and achieve great things!
My bracha to all the Jews around the world is therefore:
Don't LEAVE your country – GO to Israel.
"Leaving" is an end but life here is a wonderful beginning.
