Tzippi Livni and the Politics of DUH!!

(Editor's note: Reading this brings to mind the words of the late great Ramones who might've been writing about the erstwhile haTanua MK when they said, "Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment."  Nice going Ayelet)

MK Shaked: 'Disengagement Architect' Livni Hasn't Changed

If Tzippy Livni were wise, she would keep a low profile on uprooting communities in Judea and Samaria, said MK Ayelet Shaked.

If Justice Minister Tzippy Livni were wise, she would keep a low profile – instead of suggesting that the government use money earmarked for Judea and Samaria to provide compensation for southern businesses that were financially decimated by the war, said Jewish Home MK Ayelet Shaked.
“Livni, the architect of the disengagement, wants to use money from Judea and Samaria to help people who live in the Negev, who need help – because of the disengagement.

“The big question for Livni,” said Shaked, “is will she be able to make it to Oslo to raise a glass celebrating peace before Hamas manages to close down Ben Gurion Airport permanently?”

Shaked was responding to a Facebook post by Livni earlier Thursday, in which she said that she “had no doubt that the way to compensate residents of the south is to take money from isolated settlements in Judea and Samaria for that purpose. It is now more clear than ever that we need a new Zionist priority – investing in Gaza area settlements, promoting business and construction, providing benefits for residents, and investing in technologies to prevent Hamas from using tunnels to terrorize Israel.

“The investment in Gaza-border area towns is an investment that will pay off forever since they are inside Israel's legitimate borders, while investing in the isolated settlements is exactly the opposite,” she added. Livni did not say what she meant by “isolated settlements,” but in the past she has used that term to classify all towns in Judea and Samaria outside “settlement blocs.” Among those “isolated settlements” are Beit El, Ofra, Elon Moreh, and all the other towns near Road 60 in Judea and Samaria north of Jerusalem and south of Gush Etzion.

Livni is apparently still very anxious to give away land in Judea and Samaria, said Shaked. “If when there are terrorist tunnels in Kfar Sava, coming from Kalkilyeh, will she say we should take money from the Gaza area communities to compensate them? Livni brought us to the edge of chaos once; is it appropriate that we listen to her again?”
