Moshe Feiglin on Forced Feeding: Prisoners have Right Not to Eat

“When the Forced Feeding Bill, which mandates that prisoners on hunger strike will be force-fed, was brought before the previous Knesset, it was clear that I would oppose it – despite the fact that the Coalition intended to vote in favor of the bill,” said Moshe Feiglin.

Feiglin said that it is hard to think of a worse kind of coercion. “Prisoners have the right not to eat,” he stated.

According to Feiglin, the new law actually expresses Israel’s lack of faith in the ethicality of its very existence. “A country that believes in itself has no problem looking straight in the eyes of its enemies – even when they are using the hunger strike weapon against it,” Feiglin concluded.
